I woke up sick this morning, which is not to fun. I have a sore throat, headache, fever, you know the works. I did not have speech at 8:00 this morning which was nice, so I got to sleep in an extra hour. I did have to get up earlier than I was planning though, because I had to finish my Old Testament project. Classes were hard to get through since I am sick. I had work tonight, I was supposed to work 4:00-9:00, but my boss let me leave at 7:00 which was very nice, cuz I didn’t know if I was going to make it all night. Now I have some studying to do for my theology exam and hopefully I can go to bed early. This photo is from the package I got from home today, I think they are trying to fatten me up, sending me so much candy!

Look! It’s a line in the grass…and a thirty-second exposure. Yup, quite exciting isn’t it? It’s not the most fantastic photo ever, but I don’t have time to spend on coming up with a masterpiece tonight. I have been really busy all day today, classes all morning and a little bit this afternoon, then homework and work tonight. I got to finish my Old Testament project now, and then get some good sleep. This week is pretty busy with work, but I think it will pass quickly, which is good.

It was a very nice day today, especially because of the time change I got to sleep in longer than usual! Church was very good; Don Miller spoke, which was very amazing. It was one of the best sermons I have ever heard, that is for sure. This afternoon I went with Kevin and Tim down to go hiking. We drove about an hour and a half to I have no idea where, but it was very pretty and fun. We did not hike the whole trial, but if hiked all the way through it goes past ten different waterfalls, I believe. We saw four of the falls before we headed back to the car. This photo is of the second falls we saw. This one was cool because we could take a trail right to the top and look down, then take a trail behind the waterfall and to this cave sort of hole in the cliff where I took this shot. It was very beautiful out there, quite amazing that is for sure! On the way back we stopped at Arby’s for dinner. Now for a night full of homework to get ready for the very busy week!

The nice thing about Saturday is it is my only day to sleep in, which is very welcome. I slept in to almost noon today surprisingly, which gave me a wonderful 8 hours sleep, which is not seen very often around here. Alex and I went and had lunch and hung out for the afternoon. Around four we drove down to Stumptown Coffee with Josh to enjoy a couple good mochas. This picture is from when we were hanging out down at Stumptown. It took me a couple shots to get one without Alex goofing off or laughing to hard. It was a nice afternoon just enjoying the weather and hanging out. I went to work tonight for only two hours; since we were not busy I got off pretty early. It has been a nice Saturday, even though I had to work and I couldn’t get away to the beach or anything.

I don’t have much to say about the early part of the day, just the normal two Friday classes and chapel. Tonight I went down to Urban Grind Coffee where they had the Black and White Africa Exhibit set up, with some of my photos showing. They also had several live performances by poets, songwriters and others to raise awareness for HIV/Aids in Africa. It was exciting to see my work being used and have people looking at my photos, it blew me away, I don’t feel worthy of that at all that is for sure. I was talking to Daniel Holcomb, the president of Lahash, which is the organization that put on the exhibit, and while we were talking someone came up and told him that my piece had been sold! I am amazed and excited; to think that someone bought my photos…it’s crazy. After the exhibit Alex and I were heading back to our cars and we saw this chair sitting on the curb. I had to get a crazy picture of Alex in the chair of course. After that we took it back here to our dorm room, because that is the unsaid rule of Portland (or at least I have heard), that anything left on the curb is free. It was a good night; I had a good time and enjoyed the evening.

It’s nice to have another Thursday over with, only six weeks left till the end of the semester. I did not have to work tonight, so it was nice to be able to not stress about homework this afternoon. I went down to Alberta Street with Kevin and a couple other guys tonight. There were not very many people there, I think it was because it is getting later in the year and it’s colder. It was still interesting to see all the crazy people. We saw the crazy clowns again, although they did not strip down this time, so that was good. They just did some fire breathing this time; I guess they had to keep the excitement up somehow. The pictures of the fire did not turn out very good, unfortunately. I did get this picture of the clown’s house. I guess they all live in this house on the corner as a sort of commune, crazy I know, never thought of a clown commune before have you? Yeah, Portland is weird.

It was a really long day today, or at least it has seemed to be so far. After classes were over I went for a walk in the park, and I got this picture of a bird flying, its not in focus exactly, but I like the look of it. I have been working on homework this afternoon, and I work tonight for a couple of hours. It has been a busy week, but busy is good, because it makes the time go by quickly.

Today was a very busy day with classes…I had a speech at 8:00, and then I had a paper due in my next class, which I finished between the two classes. Old Testament was usual, and then this afternoon I had my midterm in World Christianity. It was kinda none-stop there for a while. I was really tired this afternoon when I got out of World Christianity, so I laid down and ended up sleeping for almost an hour, it was really nice. I worked tonight for a couple hours, made some good tips as usual. Now I am back for a night of homework. I went out to take some pictures tonight, since I had no time throughout the day. This photo is from behind our dorm, the fence had a bunch of leaves stuck in it and it made a pretty cool shot.

I was really tired this morning in Theology class, I could barely stay awake and I was trying my hardest. I decided to skip chapel and sleep for a hour between classes because I didn’t think I would be able to make it through Old Testament. I didn’t hear my alarm set for 10:50, and I woke up right at 11:00 when class was starting, so I ran to class, and made it in time. The rest of classes went alright, homework this afternoon amidst the procrastination, and then work for a couple hours tonight. I worked a hour more than I was scheduled, but I did make it back right in time for our dorm meeting. Now I have a ton of studying to do for the rest of the night. This photo was taken when I was working…the sunset wasn’t spectacular, but I like how it looked with the house.

I was planning on going to the 9:00 service at church this morning, but upon waking up at 8:00 I promptly went back to sleep. I did end up getting up for the 11:00 service, which wasn’t as bad, but I was still tired, because I did not get to bed until almost 3:00 last night. The day has pretty good, just sitting around, doing minimal homework and watching videos with Alex most of the day. I was going to go see The Fold with my friend Kevin tonight, but I decided not to, because I need to get some school done, plus I have not really listened to the band at all. After dinner I took some pictures out in front of the bookstore. This is photo is the maintenance shop front door. Now to reading all night and some studying for World Christianity exam.

I woke up at noon today, I am surprised I slept that long! It was nice to get so much sleep though. I did some homework this afternoon before I headed to work. Work went well, it was busy but I made a bunch in tips and I didn’t get lost to bad. Tonight Alex and I went and got another movie to watch, then we went to find some candy to eat while watching our movie. This picture was from when we stopped at Walgreens to get candy, but they were closed. Now we are back eating our candy and watching United 93, it’s a pretty intense movie.

I only went to one of my two classes today, plus chapel so it was a short school day. I went over to Portland Community College with the other Aviation majors after chapel to check out the aviation career day, which was neat. Mission Aviation Fellowship had a booth set up there, so I got to talk to their guy for a little bit about flying. It was fun hanging out, seeing aircraft and eating lunch. This picture is from a helicopter that was over at the school. I worked for a couple hours tonight, made some good money in tips too. Now I have some homework, and I think Alex and I are going to watch a movie. This weekend is going to be busy, but hopefully I will get to relax some too.

When I get to the end of a Thursday it feels like the week is over, I guess that is because Fridays are so light with only two classes. My exam and quizzes went ok today. I am not sure about the exam, I don’t think I did very well, which is disappointing. After classes were over I did the usual homework until dinner. Dinner was the usual CafĂ© food, nothing close or compared to normal good food I get other places. I drove up the 5 freeway about 15 minutes to drop off my photos for the art exhibit next weekend. I got this picture on the river by the guy’s house where I dropped the photos tonight. It was another 30 second exposure, almost looks like day time even though it was really dark.

Usual day at school for me today, normal classes, nothing to different for the day. I finished up classes and did a little bit of studying this afternoon. After dinner I went to work to pick up my tips from yesterday, because the manager messed up and did not do it right. I also went to Wal-Mart to pickup some frames for these pictures I got printed up. The weekend of the 27th-28th I am having four of my pictures shown downtown in a gallery; I am super excited about that. I am showing some of my pictures from the trip to Africa. I had them printed in 11x17s, they are nice and big, very good quality printing too. I have been studying all night tonight, because I have a midterm in Old Testament tomorrow, plus quizzes in both of my other classes, which makes for a pretty busy schedule. I took this picture right around midnight out behind our dorm. It is raining tonight, so it made for a shiny look; the silhouette is me by the way. I better get to bed now, I need some sleep!

It was quite a long day today that is for sure. I had speech at 8:00 this morning, fortunately there were to many speeches to make, so I get to do mine next week, which means I can put a little more preparation into it. Classes went on and on forever, or at least it seemed so. I worked started work at 5:30 and did not get off until almost 10:00. Work went well; I am finally getting use to the city streets and not getting lost. I did a couple phone orders, but I am still getting use to the computers. Now I have some homework to do, and hopefully sleep soon. I got a bunch of mail today, from Kate, Lanaya, and my Great Grandma. I thought this picture might look kinda neat, like the perspective from my eyes of reading my mail.

I would have to say that today was a day of very mixed emotions. It was an amazing morning and afternoon, being able to hang out with Kate. We got sushi and ate it in the Trolleyfield, which is where this picture is from. After having a nice afternoon we drove down the hill. We had dinner at Panda Express in Ontario before Kate dropped me off at the airport. It was really hard to leave, I wanted more than anything to stay. I slept most of my flight back. I got in to Portland around 10:30 and took the train down to school. The train station is a couple blocks from my school, so I had to walk. If you ever get the chance to walk a couple blocks in a city at 10:30 by yourself, don’t do it. I was about half way back to school when a guy ran up to me and punched me in the face. I was about to beat the crap out of him when five of his friends ran up and started hitting me. At that point I decided that there were to many, plus the other five or so standing over by a store, so I ran. I ran so fast, and they decided to stop and not chase me anymore, thank God. I think they only wanted to fight, cuz they didn’t steal anything from me fortunately, because I had EVERYTHING with me: my laptop, camera and lenses, my iPod…so I made it back to school ok. I am glad nothing worse happened, just a sore face. So that’s my exciting sad day, I better get off to bed.

Another day on break…which was really nice, I don’t really want to go back to school now. I went to lunch today with Kate, Ami-Rose, and Shane at Teddy Bears. Tonight we watched a movie, got dinner from Maggio’s and had ice cream with strawberries, it was a lot of fun. I was brainstorming for a picture for today, so this is what I came up with….another picture of Kate and me. It is sad; because this is my last night back…tomorrow I head back up to school. I already can’t wait for thanksgiving.

It was a really nice day today, another day to just sit around and hang out. I went to lunch with Matt and Seth at this little Mexican food place, it was really good and I couldn’t even finish all of my food because they gave me so much. After lunch Kate and I watched a movie and hung out for the rest of the afternoon. We had dinner at her house. I took me forever, but I finally decided I wanted to go to Baker Pond to take my picture for the day. This turned out a lot better than I thought it was going to. We had to stand there perfectly still for thirty seconds for the picture to come out. When we were done with the picture we had to go get hot chocolate from Teddy Bears because it was so freezing cold outside.

I thought I could sleep in this morning, but I am so use to getting up early for school that I just woke up at 7:30. I went and hung out with Kate all day, it was so much fun just doing whatever we wanted, not worrying about school for now. We went to Butler’s with a bunch a bunch of people, it was really cold and foggy up there, but it was still fun. This picture is of Matt up at Butler’s, He had this big flashlight and it looked really cool shinning through the fog I thought it looked really cool. After Butler’s we went over to Ami-Rose’s for a while, then Kate and I went to her house for dinner. It was a very nice day, being able to just hangout with Kate and relax from school was very nice.

It’s here! Mid-semester break, the whole four day weekend I have off from school, which means its only two days off from school in reality. It was tough to get through classes today since I knew I was leaving, they seemed to drag on forever. After lunch I had a couple hours between classes, so I packed and got ready to go so I could take off right after I got out of World Christianity. Class finally ended and I quickly headed back to my room to grab my stuff and take off. I walked a couple blocks from school to the train station which took me directly to Portland International Airport. I got there two hours early just in case, but with the automated check in and short security lines I was at my gate within a few minutes. I took a nice nap for a while until it was time to board the plane. The plane I was on was a smaller airliner, only four seats across. This picture is from my plane ride down, the sun was shinning on these mountains and lighting them up making them really stand out. I hope the guy trying to sleep next to me wasn’t to upset with my camera noises! My plane arrived in Ontario fifteen minutes

Classes were alright today it seemed longer than usual, mostly because I am ready for break. I got my Psychology paper and exam back today, unfortunately I did not to do well. I got a C on the exam and a B on the paper. Next time I am going to have to study quite a bit more and bring it up. I have been doing homework to get ahead for the weekend, so that has kept me pretty busy all day. The picture kinda explains itself; I was feeling a little creative so I came up with this.

Another day gone, another day closer to Thursday! I went to speech at 8:00 this morning and the teacher asked if we had any questions, we said no, she said we could leave…how pointless is that? I got up early for nothing! I could have slept in until 10:00! Oh well, I got some extra homework done with that time, so it turned out ok. After classes were finished I did some more homework and sat around for a while. At 5:00 I went to work for a couple hours. I did four deliveries and worked with the computers quite a bit getting the hang of things. I made this one delivery to this old lady who must have been at least eighty, she gave me a dollar for tip and then changed her mind and gave me another dollar she said, “I really appreciate you guys, and I know every dollar counts right!” it was funny. I worked longer than I thought I was going to and I got off at 8:30. Now I have some homework to get ahead on and then sleepy time…

I got up a half hour early to get some extra studying in for my Theology exam. I had Theology and Psychology midterms today so I have been really busy studying for those. I am so glad they are over and to be honest they were not to difficult which was a pleasant surprise. I was prepared for the worst because everyone kept telling me that the exams were killer and everyone failed the first time. More homework has been going down all day, so I am officially tired of doing it tonight. These few days before I get to fly back are killing me, I can’t wait to leave! This picture is my roommates “to do” list for everyday. That’s about it, g’night!

This morning I woke up at 8:00 when my alarm clock when off for church and I got up went to the shower, turned around, got back into bed because I was so tired I didn’t want to go to church. After lying there for a few minutes I was wide awake so I figured I was supposed to go to church and back to the shower I went. I know I am crazy! Church was really good so I am glad I went. After church I came back and studied all afternoon. I am really tired of studying…I cannot wait until Thursday, only a few more days and I am there! This picture is Alex and I in our room sitting on our awesome free couch. I am back to studying…have a good night!

Today hasn’t been the usual easy going fun Saturday as I have usually had this semester. I did get to sleep in until almost 10:00, which was really nice. I had studying most of the afternoon. Work started tonight at Dominos around 5:00. I went through the whole training thing and got to do two deliveries of my own. Only one of the orders tipped me, so I only made a couple bucks in tips tonight. It will be good to make some extra money working a couple days a week. I have to memorize all these codes for ordering when I answer phones there so I can enter in orders. Besides that the only thing that will be difficult is finding my way around Portland…hopefully I don’t get to lost. Now I am back to a ton of studying for midterms on Monday.
