We headed out early this morning (6:00am) and headed down towards Ensenada. We finally stopped just outside of Ensenada for breakfast…I had Machaca, Jake and Dad had Chorizo, and of course Matt had Pancakes. Dad was going to call Mom to check in, but realized he had left the cell phone at the church, so we need to stop soon to get another one. We drove on the highway for most of the day…we were beginning to think that we should have brought street bikes, but we finally hit the dirt. The dirt messed us up a little, or should I say it messed up our bike racks a little….all four of our racks had some bending/breaking problem. Jake’s fell completely off later on. I guess we should have bought some instead of building them. The dirt road was pretty crazy…it is part of the Baja 1000 race through Mexico. We ended up at Mike’s Sky Ranch where we are staying tonight. Beds for everyone, flush toilets, showers, electricity…can’t get much better in out here in Mexico.

Well, it is only our first day on the Mexico trip and the craziness has already begun. We made it down to the border pretty late this afternoon….on our way through the border check my bike stalled, and it’s a pain to start cuz it’s a kick start…so Jake and I got separated from Matt and Dad. After a couple wrong turns we made it back together. We stopped to get a cell phone and then headed to Pastor Cono’s church to spend the night. Half way to the church Matt ran out of gas, so I stopped when I saw he was not behind me…after a tow, in the dark, from my Dad, Matt made it up to a Pemex (Gas Station). We finally made it to the church. Now Dad is out to get us some food. Now I am ready for some sleep.

I went to church this morning with Kate and then we went to lunch with Ashley. This afternoon I came home and did a couple things to get ready for our trip. Kate and I drove down the highway a couple miles to this aspen grove we had heard about. It was so beautiful down there. Kate was looking amazingly beautiful today as well, so it made for great photos. We were going to leave for Mexico tomorrow, but we are going to have wait one more day because we did not get the racks to go on our motorcycles all finished.

So, I do not know if I have said anything to everyone yet about my trip to Mexico yet except for yesterday so I will explain. My Dad, Matt, Jake, and I are leaving on Monday for a month long motorcycle trip through Mexico. I will not have my computer or internet, obviously, since I will be out riding motorcycles and camping half the time. Needless to say, I will not be able to post my photos until I get back. I am taking my camera though, of course, so be expecting a ton of photos when I get back. I will come back and post for everyday that I was gone, so do not worry, they will just be a month late; nothing new right? Haha. I spent all day today mapping out our route through Mexico on the GPS so we will (hopefully) not get lost…I took this photo this morning when I got up, it was beautiful outside from the rain last night. If you look in the water droplet on the end of the branch, you can see the trees upside down from the background.

I got to sleep in this morning, which was really nice, especially since yesterday was so hard. On Monday we leave for a motorcycle trip through Mexico for a month, so we have been working on getting ready for that all day today. I really like how this photo turned out…kind of a blurry driving photo, but the telephone pole makes it look pretty cool.

We poured the slab for the new house today…and it was a lot of work. The cement finishers did not show up, which made a lot of extra work for us. Ken and Dottie helped us with the pour so that was a big help. This is a photo of Ken finishing the slab.

Today we put in the electrical and water lines to the new house…it was a really long day, but we got it done. Lanaya came up and visited Kate and I tonight. We had dinner and then hung out for a while.

I worked for a few hours this morning and then I went down the hill with Kate. Here is another driving photo for you….

We worked on the foundation, getting ready to pour the slab for the house today. We are supposed to pour on Thursday so we have quite a bit to do. I guess this photo is pretty obvious, no explanation needed here.

Here is a photo of Owen playing the drums after church. When I saw him sitting there playing I could not help taking a few photos because he is way too cute. Today is my Dad’s birthday so we had a few people over after church to our house for a little lunch party for him.

I worked with my Mom today on preparing more of the foundation for when we pour the slab for the new house. I finished a little early and went off-roading a little bit. I took this photo when I was out exploring and off-roading. I found this burnt down log cabin, it was pretty awesome.

I worked all this morning and then went to lunch with Josh Pool…It was really nice to hang out with Josh and talk, he is rad. I took this photo of the front of Kate’s house…it is looking very much like fall time now, and I like it. I love all the different colors and shades during the fall, one of my favorite seasons.

We dug more ditches today…this time for the septic in the foundation. I am really tired from shoveling and picking all day. This is a photo of the septic tank being put in for the new house.

We worked on the foundation for the new house today…and now I am really really tired. Ken and Dottie are staying here with us right now, so I am home for dinner tonight. They are making us steak and lobster for dinner. Mmmm! It is going to be good!

I took the day off today, because I did not feel like working and I wanted to spend the day with Kate. We had a lot of fun all day just lounging around, eating, taking photos, and things of that nature. Kate saw this tree down the road from her house so we decided to stop and take photos under it…

Today we dug the footings for the new cabin…we finished them all today, which was a lot of work. My Dad dug the trenches while Jake and I cleared out all the dirt from in and around them. It was a long hard day, but we did get a lot done, which was good.
